DrupalCon Barcelona 2024 Recap: Innovations, Starshot Initiative, Drupal AI Module, and Lupus Decoupled Drupal Highlights

04.10.2024,

DrupalCon Barcelona 2024 was a thrilling event, packed with exciting sessions, Birds of a Feathers (BoFs) and key contributions from the global Drupal community. As a proud sponsor, drunomics was heavily involved, not only via sponsorship but by also showcasing our innovative solutions including Lupus Decoupled Drupal and the latest release of Custom Elements UI. Here’s a look back at key moments and highlights.

What's New at DrupalCon 2024

One of the standout sessions was Dries Buytaert's keynote presentation, coined DriesNote, where he discussed the future of Drupal including the Starshot initiative. It is a forward-looking project designed to push Drupal beyond traditional CMS boundaries. Alongside this, the Drupal AI module continued to grab attention as it promises to further elevate Drupal in the coming years. Another key feature that sparked discussions was the Experience Builder, designed to enable non-technical users to easily create dynamic, personalized web experiences within Drupal. This tool simplifies the content creation process, making it more intuitive and accessible for all users.

Networking and Collaboration

drunomics took part in several BoF sessions and networked with attendees to promote our solutions. We had significant discussions in sessions with the Drupal Association and with other agencies.

Showcasing Lupus Decoupled Drupal

On Contribution Day, drunomics showcased the Lupus Decoupled suite of modules, which has reached stability. It attracted significant interest from the community during Drupalcon. We highlighted how it offers a powerful, flexible solution for headless Drupal applications, combining decoupled architecture with improved performance and security. Attendees were particularly interested in how it streamlines content management and integrates seamlessly with front-end frameworks.

A stable version of the new Custom Elements UI module was released on Contribution Day, which simplifies the page-building experience for non-technical users, empowering a frontend developer to manage the output from the backend, instead of requiring a backend developer to make changes. This eliminates the need for a site builder or frontend developer to coordinate with the backend developers, thus saving time and money.

Conclusion: An Exciting Future for drunomics

DrupalCon Barcelona 2024 proved to be a fantastic platform for drunomics. Through our sponsorship, product showcases, and contributions, we connected with industry peers and demonstrated our commitment to pushing the boundaries of what Drupal can achieve.
